FG updates preventive guidelines ahead of reopening worship centres

As a measure to restrain the spread of COVID-19, the Federal overnment has issued a refreshed version of the guidelines needed for reopening places of worship across Nigeria. The new guidelines which were published by the presidential task force on COVID-19 include a list of safe-conducts that church and mosques have to adhere to. According to the federal ministry of information, these guidelines were required to halt the further infection of COVID-19.

Following are the sixteen precautionary guileless for churches

  1. Attend church only on Sundays.
  2. Open church from 5am to 8pm.
  3. Hold multiple services with a maximum of one hour per session.
  4. Sanitise all worship areas including doors, doors, switches, and microphones.
  5. Provide hand washing facilities and temperature checks.
  6. Mandatory use of face masks by all Operation.
  7. Display non-contact greetings signs.
  8. Provide offering boxes at all entry points.
  9. Provide floor markings for physical distancing.
  10. No sharing of bibles, hymns and no use of holy water fonts.
  11. No social gathering before and after service.
  12. Ensure controlled use of restrooms.
  13. Close businesses within church premises.
  14. Home worship for the elderly and the people with underlying health conditions.
  15. Ensure good ventilation.
  16. Children areas should remain closed Children areas in both churches and mosques are to remain closed.

Furthermore, the following are the sixteen COVID-19 precautionary guileless for mosques.

  1. Only the five daily prayers and Friday prayers are allowed for public worship.
  2. Hold Friday prayers and sermons for a maximum of one hour.
  3. Sanitise all worship areas including taps, doorknobs, light switches.
  4. Mandatory use of face masks by all.
  5. Provide hand washing facilities and temperature checks.

  7. Provide sadaqah boxes at every entry point.
  8. Provide running water in prayer and ablution areas.
  9. Provide floor markings for physical distancing.
  10. No sharing of Quaran, praying mats and kettles.
  11. No social gathering before and after service.
  12. Ensure controlled use of restrooms.
  13. Close businesses within mosques premises.
  14. Home worship for the elderly and people with underlying health conditions.
  15. Ensure good ventilation.
  16. Close Islamiyya schools.
