According to the former US president Donald Trump, the FBI searched his Florida property and forced open a safe.

Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, was “occupied by a big group of FBI officers,” according to a statement from Mr. Trump.

A probe into Mr. Trump’s handling of government documents is said to be the reason for the search on Monday.

Mr. Trump’s statement continued, “These are sad times for our country.” Before, a president of the United States had never experienced anything similar.

Both the Justice Department and the FBI have made no comments regarding the alleged search.

The source added that several boxes were removed and that the raid was over by late afternoon. She also said that no doors were kicked down.

Judge approval is required for a federal search warrant. Law enforcement agencies must first show that there is a chance that evidence of criminality will be found, even though a warrant of this kind does not imply that criminal charges are anticipated.

As the Republican is preparing for a potential second presidential bid in 2024, federal enforcement surveillance of Mr. Trump has dramatically increased.
