The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Bola Tinubu was declared the winner of the February 25 presidential election in Nigeria by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) early on Wednesday morning.

Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC Chairman announced the results at the International Conference Centre (ICC), Abuja.

With 8,805,420 votes cast on Saturday, Tinubu was proclaimed the victor of the 2023 presidential election.

Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tinubu’s closest rival, trailed by no less than 1.8 million votes, according to a count of the votes made public by electoral officials from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja.
