Nigerian airlines have been granted Third Country Operator (TCO) certificates by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), allowing them to operate in the United Kingdom and Europe. This development paves the way for Air Peace, the largest carrier in Nigeria, to begin operations in the UK.

The Air Peace Chairman, Mr. Allen Onyema, had previously expressed concerns about the airline’s inability to fly to London. Thanks to the intervention of the NCAA, obstacles for Air Peace and other airlines have been resolved. Omni Blu Airline also obtained the TCO, and United Nigeria Airlines (UNA) has been designated to fly to the UK.

Director-General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Musa Nuhu, emphasized the importance of involving the NCAA when negotiating with foreign countries to avoid complications and ensure a smooth process. He highlighted the significance of bilateral air service agreements (BASA) and meeting regulatory requirements for international flights.
