Sao Tome and Principe have opted to withdraw from the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualification race. They were originally set to face the Super Falcons in the first round this month. The decision to withdraw has been officially communicated to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

As a result of this withdrawal, the Super Falcons, who are nine-time champions, have automatically advanced to the second round without playing a match. In the second round, they will face the winner of the match between Cape Verde and Liberia.

The victor of that particular contest will earn a spot in the 2024 WAFCON, which is slated to be hosted by Morocco. In the previous edition of the tournament, also held in Morocco, the Super Falcons secured a fourth-place finish.
