The Sports Ministry has given medal winners their due after a record-breaking performance of 35 medals.
All medal winners who raised the Nigerian flag at the just finished Commonwealth Games in Birmingham received rewards from the country’s sports ministry. We learned that the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development provided financial incentives to all medal winners and their coaches in recognition of their bravery in Birmingham.
Gold medal winners received $5,000 each, silver medal winners $3,000, and bronze medal winners $2,000, a dependable source claims.
Team Nigeria received $15,000 from the athletes who competed in the 4 x 100 relay.
Among those honored, according to reports, are Tobi Amusan, the women’s 100-meter hurdles champion, Ese Brume, the 200-meter silver medalist, and others.
